Enjoy a hiking trip on the Longsheng Rice Terraces near Guilin. Explore the incredible rice terraces that are being used by the local farmers for the past 800 years. This tour is a nature lovers delight!
In the afternoon our English-speaking guide and air-conditioned car or van will pick you in the hotel in Guilin city(or in the airport). Then start a 2.5 hour drive to the Pingan village in the Longsheng area, which is famous for their rice terrace. Stay one night in this village. Pingan village is a village of Zhuang people. This village is built from the end of the Ming Dynasty, the villagers still live in the well-preserved traditional three-floor wooden buildings.
In the morning, we start walking from Pingan village heading towards Dazhai village. On the way you can see many beautiful sceneries of Rice Terrace like "Seven stars with moon", " Nine dragons and and five tigers", "Thousand layers to the heaven". The whole lenghth of hike lasts about 14km and need about 5 hours of regular walking. The destination of Dazhai is a village of Yao people. From here you take our private car/van back to Guiin (or airport).
If you think this hiking route(Pingan-Dazhai) is too far for you, you can choose an alternative short hiking route (Pingan-Old Zhuang village), this route is about 7 km and only 3 hours' walking, the scenery is also very beautiful. In the Old Zhuang village the original Zhuang people's house worth looking. From there take private car/van back to Guilin(or airport).
A bit about Longsheng Rice terraces
The Longsheng (also called- Longji) Rice Terraces are located north to Guilin and the home of the Yao and Zhuang minorities. The construction of the rice terraces started at the Yuan dynasty at around the year 1270 and still developing today. Today, it is one of the best attraction in Guilin area.
