Lijiang is home to the Naxi minority, a minority with matriarch roots, fascinating history and rich culture including religion, language and even a unique way of writing. We begin our day with a tour to the Naxi museum, over there besides the antique objects and tools the museum also displays relics and interesting explanations about the local "Dongba" religion that used to be the main religion of the place. This religion is based on Shamanism principles, combines the local beliefs with the Tibetan "Bon" religion, as well as Buddhist and Taoist beliefs.
After the museum tour we will continue to the "Black Dragon Pool" park, followed by a stroll in the maze of crowded and bustling streets of the old town of Lijiang. We will continue to the local market of the town and will get lost among the fruits, vegetables, spices and the nice local people.
From there we will drive to the pastoral Naxi village of Baisha, that is offering stunning views of the Jade Dragon Mountain that rises up to 5,500 meters above sea level. Then we will drive to the Tibetan temple Zhi-Yun, an adorable temple full of prayer flags, prayer wheels and colorful murals of Tibetan mythology.
