A bit about Harbin
Harbin (Ha'erbin) is well known for it's historical Russian past; Back in early 1900's it was a Russian military base; Then it became a stop on the Transsiberian Train, making it a business and tourists' hub in north of China. Harbin is famous for the extreme weather, the annual International Ice and Snow Festival and its warm people. The Russian church and governmental buildings are one of the main architectural highlights in town.
This casual city sight-seeing tour will introduce you to the historical (Russian) city of Harbin. First, you will visit the main historical street - the Central street, looking at the beautiful buildings and stores, hearing from your tour guide about the historical background of the place. From there, you will walk to one of the biggest rivers in China, the Songhua river. If lucky enough, you might see some of the brave men and women daring to swim in the ice-cold waters.
Afterwards, visit St. Sophia Church, the largest Eastern Orthodox Church in the Far East. After warming-up with lunch or a hot cup of coffee, you will continue to Zhaolin Park to enjoy the Chinese Ice Lantern Show. You will truly find yourself in a winter-wonderland and will be overwhelmed by the bright colors of the ice-sculptures.

Please wear comfortable and warm shoes, antiskid shoes, if spossible, or wear crampon. Cotton clothes, cotton-padded trousers, cotton hats, scarf and gloves, are advised too. Body lotion and lipbalm can help with the dry weather.
Most of time we will be walking outside. For transfers during the day we will be taking a taxi or a public bus. This will be paid by your local guide as well.
