Tour details

If you have very limited time in Shanghai, and want to go home with a great understanding of Shanghai, its people, history and culture, then this Shanghai day tour is perfect for you! You will visit both the east and west sides of Shanghai and discover Shanghai's fascinating mix of modern and classic character.

Details

Your tour guide will meet you at your desired starting point, typically your hotel lobby, at your desired time, typically 9:30 am. Then you will start this 8-hour city cultural and historical highlights tour.

First, you will visit an iconic building in the financial center of Shanghai and rise to the observation deck to have a panoramic birds eye view of the whole city. Choose from the historic Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the landmark and unique Shanghai World Financial Center, the lucky JinMao Tower or the Shanghai Tower (the newest and highest building in China).

From here you will visit the Bund Area or have a walk on the Promenade Waterfront(BinJiangDaDao) on the East Bund, where we will enjoy 100-year old architecture and enjoy exciting views across the Huangpu River and riverside parks. This area was controlled by the British during the concessions period.

Next, you'll visit the Confucius Temple, the top university in the history of Shanghai. It was built in 1291 and the only place to pay respects to Confucius in the city. From here, you will then go to a century-old local restaurant to have traditional steamed buns and local dishes based on you preferences.

In the afternoon, you'll visit Yuyuan Garden, a famous classical garden in southern China which is over 400 years old built in Ming Dynasty, the area around the garden has been the downtown of the city  for several hundred years.

After Yuyuan Garden, you'll visit the surrounding areas,  it is regarded as The Happy Shopping Kingdom for small items like inexpensive Chinese ornamental items. Where you can also find Chinese cultural  souvenirs such as pearls, jade, and silk as well. You may still want to try a Chinese tea tasting.

To end of the day, you'll visit one more place of your choice - the Former Concession Area to enjoy the atmosphere of east meets west or one of the new popular places in Shanghai, Tianzifang, to completely give your tour a relaxing end.

You will be sent back to your hotel or somewhere in the city center you prefer when the tour is finished.

We had a wonderful experience yesterday with Alice, she planned the tour according to our needs and was receptive of all our feedback and requests. Alice was adaptable with the weather (and with us getting tired!) and spent extra time on things she knew we would enjoy. Thank you again Alice from Therese and Brenda.

Wow! My friend and I had a 13hr layover in Shanghai, and wanted to make the most of it! …we did! As soon as I booked the tour, Jenny contacted me to get some details of my travel arrangements. She offered to have our guide meet us at the airport for an additional charge- well worth the $30 and valuable time we would have spent getting into the city for the first time. Peggy was our tour guide, and we couldn’t have asked for a more thorough education. As soon as we got off our plane- she was there waiting for us and explained the most efficient way to do things. She is extremely knowledgeable and actually has a degree in tourism! She got us throughout the city and to the highlights of Shanghai in the relatively short time we had. I had done some research and she was able to check off everything on my list! This tour is flexible and Peggy is super warm and personable. At the end of our day- she basically put us on the Maglev and directed us back to the airport. We saved ALOT of time with her guidance. This is the BEST WAY to see Shanghai! :

An awesome tour of Shanghai! We spent a jam packed day in Shanghai that was loads of fun yet very informative. Our guide was the excellent Peggy – so knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We saw all the main highlights of Shanghai plus Peggy managed to add in a few extra stops to accommodate the interests of pre-teen and teen children. Would highly recommend this tour with a driver as we got to visit so many places in a short time. Even the booking process was very professional – Jenny was extremely accommodating and quick to propose a tailored tour itinerary in a short period of time. Thank you Jenny and Peggy for such a great Shanghai experience.
