You will meet up with your guide at 8 am and drive to the Simatai West section of the Great Wall. Start hiking around 10:30 am, and continue for about 3 hours. After, lunch at a local farmer’s restaurant will be prepared for you before returning to your hotel. This section of the wall offers arguably the finest hiking on the Great Wall. The views are extremely photogenic, with over 15 watch-towers and steep gradients that give constantly changing perspectives of wide, open landscapes. There is a fascinating variety in the watch-towers here. This section of the wall is wild, ruined, preserved, and original. On a clear day, it is difficult to not take great photographs here (Note: Due to the recent closure of Simatai East section, we cannot walk through all the way to Simatai East). We will reach the wall via Kylin Tower at Simatai West, and then walk westward to Jinshanling. We will leave once we reach Shalingkou at Jinshanling. If you are still feeling energetic, you can continue to hike for another 30 minutes and get off the wall at Zhuanduokou.
